Delayed flight
Delayed 3+ hours? You're owed compensation
If your flight arrived 3 hours or more late for reasons within the airline's control, you're owed up to €600 in compensation — we claim it for you, with zero financial risk.
Check compensationWhat you're owed
EU Regulation 261/2004 protects every passenger when a flight arrives at its final destination with a significant delay. If the delay is 3 hours or more and is caused by reasons within the airline's control — such as technical issues, poor planning, or staff shortages — you're entitled to financial compensation of up to €600.
The compensation doesn't depend on the price of your ticket, but on the flight distance. You can claim it yourself, or hand the process to FlyReimburse, with zero financial risk.
A delay of 3 hours or more
The delay is measured at the moment of arrival at your final destination, not at departure from the airport.
Reasons within the airline's control
Technical issues, poor planning, or staff shortages count as causes that fall under the airline's responsibility.
A time limit of up to 6 years
You can still claim compensation for past flights, within the legal time limit of the relevant country.
Eligibility criteria
Four conditions that determine whether your flight qualifies:
Length of the delay
Your flight must have arrived at its final destination at least 3 hours late compared to the original schedule.
Flight route
The flight must depart from an EU airport, or arrive in the EU and be operated by an EU-licensed airline.
Legal time limit
A claim can be filed within 2 to 6 years of the flight date, depending on the country.
Exemptions
Severe weather, political instability, or security risks exempt the airline from the obligation to pay compensation.
How much are you owed?
The amount depends on your flight distance, under EU Regulation 261/2004.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a 'delay' under EU Regulation 261/2004?
The delay is measured against the scheduled arrival time at your final destination, not the departure time. If your flight arrives 3 hours or more late, you may qualify for compensation.
How long does the claim process take?
The process usually takes 2 to 6 months, depending on the airline's cooperation and the complexity of your case.
What happens if the airline refuses my claim?
If the airline refuses or delays its response, we take legal action on your behalf — our high success rate lets us pursue your case all the way, with zero financial risk to you.
Am I still owed compensation if I accepted an alternative flight?
Yes. If the alternative flight you accepted still arrived at your final destination 3 hours or more late, you're still entitled to financial compensation.
